Job description

As an Operational Buyer, you are in daily contact with suppliers across Asia and are responsible for managing your own supplier portfolio. You ensure that purchases are made on time and that containers depart as scheduled with the correct documentation. This helps ensure that stock levels consistently meet market and customer demand.

You also help suppliers understand what is required to successfully sell their products in the European market. To achieve this, you maintain close contact via email, messaging apps and phone, building strong and positive working relationships.

Within Beagley Copperman, you act as the link between suppliers and other departments, such as Marketing and Quality. You are also highly skilled at keeping accurate records of your activities, ensuring that the entire organisation knows exactly when products are expected to arrive.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Purchasing for your own supplier portfolio;
Maintaining close contact with suppliers;
Identifying trends and interesting new products;
Product and showroom management;
Requesting required documentation;
Monitoring whether deliveries are carried out as agreed;
Administration of all purchasing activities.

You easily connect with people and are able to build strong and positive relationships with your suppliers. This allows you to develop true partnerships and ensures that both sides know exactly what they can expect from each other. You are also responsible for continuously monitoring stock levels and ensuring the right products are available, so our sales team never has to tell customers “no.”

As an Operational Buyer, you have MBO+ or HBO-level working and thinking skills. You are able to work independently, while also functioning well as part of a team. You communicate clearly and confidently with both suppliers and colleagues and are comfortable standing your ground when needed. As our suppliers are based abroad, professional proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in another language is considered an advantage.

Quality is very important to you. Even in a fast-paced environment, you are able to maintain a clear overview and ensure that all administration related to the purchasing process is handled accurately and efficiently.

You also meet the following criteria:

1–5 years of experience in a similar position;
MBO+ / HBO-level working and thinking skills;
Professional proficiency in both English and Dutch, spoken and written;
Proficiency in a third language is considered an advantage;
Accurate, stress-resistant and a strong communicator;
Available for 32 or 40 hours per week;
Living in or near De Kwakel.

Organization

Beagley Copperman is a rapidly growing international organization that has specialized in Asian food products for 18 years. The organization focuses primarily on wholesalers, importers, catering establishments, supermarkets, etc. It trades with virtually all European countries. Partly as a result, the office in the Netherlands consists of colleagues of different nationalities with various working languages. This is why English is often preferred over Dutch.
