A Pepero Tale
The fun story all began in Korea during the 1980s. The award-winning company Lotte started to notice that every year on the 11th of November their sales increased drastically. The company decided to do research and found out that schoolgirls as a way of teasing one another, would gift Pepero sticks to their friends. The chocolate-covered pretzel sticks are thin in shape therefore this seemed like a funny way to remind each other to stay thin. However, there have been many stories about the origin of Pepero Day, so nobody knows if this is true!
Today, Pepero Day is for everyone, and exchanged to as a symbol of love and appreciation to one. It is often compared to Valentine’s Day without romantic gestures and red is not the official color. On Pepero Day many people tend to share cookies with a girlfriend/boyfriend, neighbor, sister, or even a best friend.
